Surge Protection

Electrical Installation surge protection systems consist of an arrangement of cascaded Class 1 Surge Protection at the Main Meter Cabinet, Class 1 / 2 at the Main Distribution Board and Class 3 Surge Protection at equipment level. Each playing a part in the overall discrimination of fault current levels through the electrical system down to equipment level reducing the fault current at point of consumption.

Due to Class 1 & 2 Surge protection not always being available at the required locations we have developed the equipment level Surge protector class 2 plug and play plug system - Voltage over/under surge protection , Voltage instantaneous spike protection and earth leakage protection.​

The Surge Protector Class 2 plug comes with 20 A Single pole Circuit breaker, 25 Ma Earth Leakage Unit, Over Under voltage supply monitoring relay and Class 2 Surge Protection.

 You plug in the SSE Protector Plug into your electrical installation, plug your computer, equipment into the SSE Protector plug and use as per normal.

The combination of the Earth leakage device - to isolate your equipment from the rest of the installation in the event there is an earth fault on your equipment preventing other parts of the electrical installation being impacted when a  fault occurs is key in any installation with sensitive equipment connected to it. This also protects the user in the event of a leakage current condition.

The Over/ Under Voltage relay will protect your equipment if the supply voltage from the supply ie. Council / generator is above or below  5% of the system rated supply protecting your equipment from over and under voltage surges especially during load shedding when the voltages can spike at the return of the supply causing equipment to get damaged. The Surge protection will protect equipment against lightning strike spikes on the electrical system or supply surges to the value of 20 kA. This rating can be increased/ adapted to the lightning surges prevalent in your area.

The usage of this system especially with sensitive equipment rated up to 2kw load on any system or on IT installations where the installation of earth leakage units in the main distribution board is not the norm due to the amount of equipment with inherent leakage current being connected together. Typically five or more computers connected together will result in an earth leakage exceeding 25 mA causing a earth leakage unit tripping on leakage current hence the practice of taking IT equipment off earth leakage.

Protecting an electrical installation with earth leakage is not the norm in critical equipment or standard IT installations placing the user of this equipment at risk during leakage current faults flowing to earth.

Level 3 protection is added by inserting the local plug surg protection unit into our module giving the complete Level 2 - Level 3 surge protection at equipment level,.

Our system puts the safety element back into the system by incorporating the earth leakage unit into the socket system by having the earth leakage protection local to the user.

The convenience of having local protection to this level is unique in its design and as such we are the first to put this product put into the global market.

The SURGE PROTECTOR PLUG protects the user, the PC as we as the Monitor from Lightning, Surges, Over and Under voltage by Council Supply, the user of the system from earth leakage currents keeping the entire work station safe and safe to use by the worker.
